Peacemaker Season 2

James Gunn on Peacemaker Season 2’s Place in the DCU: ‘It Won’t Be Confusing’

James Gunn says fans won’t be confused about how Peacemaker Season 2 fits into the new DCU once the show comes out.

On Threads, Gunn asked if Peacemaker Season 2 would be “confusing” given the first season of the Max series was released during the now-defunct DCEU, while the second season will be a part of Gunn and Safran’s DCU.

Addressing why he’s moving forward with Peacemaker Season 2 rather than making a whole new show, Gunn said, “Because it’s my favorite thing to do, it’s the biggest original Max show ever, and I have a way in. It won’t be confusing.”

Gunn previously confirmed that Peacemaker Season 2 will address the reset that DC Studios is currently undergoing. How exactly that looks remains to be seen when the second season, which does not yet have an official release date, comes out.

In response to another question asking if Season 2 will be “totally different” than the first season because of DC’s reboot, Gunn responded, “You’ll have to wait and see how that works out!”

Who stars in Peacemaker?

The first season of Peacemaker, which serves as a spin-off to 2021’s The Suicide Squad, debuted in January 2022. The series stars John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Robert Patrick as August Smith/White Dragon.

With Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom marking the end of the DCEU, Gunn and Safran’s DCU kicks off later this year with an animated Creature Commandos series. Following that, Superman: Legacy, which is written and directed by Gunn, flies into United States theaters on July 11, 2025.

A release date for Peacemaker Season 2 has not yet been set. The first season of Peacemaker is currently streaming on Max.
