Ava DuVernay Introduces the New Trailer For The CW’s Naomi

Naomi is set to make a big splash in 2022. Not only is DC resurrecting her comic book series after a three-year hiatus, she is also set to headline her own TV show starting in January. Ahead of its debut, The CW has released a brand new trailer featuring an introduction by executive producer Ava DuVernay.

DuVernay starts off by giving viewers a brief rundown of the series’ title character, played by Kaci Walfall. Even without any superpowers, it sounds like Naomi is living the dream. She’s popular, she has great friends, and as the trailer shows us, she also has skateboard skills. More importantly, she’s obsessed with comics and superheroes. But when a mysterious catastrophe engulfs her Pacific Northwestern town, she begins to discover exactly where that obsession comes from.

To find answers, Naomi turns to Dee (Alexander Wraith), a local tattoo artist hiding a secret of his own. Dee soon realizes that he and Naomi aren’t so different. Unfortunately, he isn’t not the only one. The sudden emergence of Naomi’s abilities also gets the attention of Zumbado (Cranston Johnson), a car lot owner who seems to have nefarious goals for her power. Regardless, Naomi will have to work alongside Dee as well as her best friend, Annabelle (Mary-Charles Jones), to discover the truth behind her origins.

Naomi will premiere its first season on The CW on Tuesday, January 11.
