Shazam! Arrives Two Weeks Early Thanks To Fandango

Captain Marvel may have all the attention at the moment, but DC is ready to strike back fairly soon. Shazam! will premiere early next month, but fans will have the opportunity to see it earlier.

Fandango has formed a partnership with Warner Bros. to premiere Shazam! on March 23 at 1,200 theaters. That means several lucky viewers will be able to check it out two weeks before its official premiere. Limited engagement sales begin today, via Fandango’s VIP program.

This isn’t the first time that Fandango has partnered with studios for early release dates. It previously joined forces with Universal Pictures on screenings of How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Before that, Sony provided the ticket service with advance screenings for Jumanji: Welcome To the Jungle and Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Both Jumanji and Hotel Transylvania 3 managed to gross over $1 million from the one-day screenings. However, Shazam! should easily challenge that mark.

“We’re thrilled to work with Warner Bros. on our early access screening program, helping eventize movies and generate buzz before opening weekend,” said Fandango president Paul Yanover via Deadline. “Shazam! is a film that appeals to the whole family, and we’re delighted that Fandango VIP fans will be among the first to see the film two weeks before it officially hits theaters.”

Jeff Goldstein, who serves as president of Warner Bros. Pictures Domestic Distribution, had this to add. “Fandango is a terrific partner and we’re excited to work with them to bring this film to their VIP members ahead of release. Shazam! is not only a great superhero action movie, but a really funny one, full of heart and charm, and we look forward to Fandango audiences being among the very first to experience it on the big screen.”

Shazam! takes flight in theaters on April 5. Will you see the film early? Let us know in the comments below!
