Ariana DeBose wants Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter to fight Spider-Man.
Kraven the Hunter opens in United States theaters this weekend. The film, set within Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, sees Taylor-Johnson play the titular character, while DeBose plays a character named Calypso.
According to a recent report for TheWrap, Kraven the Hunter will be the last Sony Spider-Man Universe film for some time, as the company is now turning its attention to Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland, the Spider-Noir series with Nicolas Cage, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
DeBose, however, is hoping that Kraven the Hunter won’t be the last time we see the villainous character, as she wants to see Taylor-Johnson battle Spider-Man.
What did Ariana DeBose say about Kraven the Hunter and Spider-Man?
“This is meant to be a standalone film and an origin story, but I do think Kraven deserves that epic showdown with Spider-Man,” DeBose told Variety. “There’s literally a whole comic about it. Give the people what they want. I think they should do that. And if there’s space for Calypso and Kraven’s journey, then great!”
Director J.C. Chandor also recently said that, if Kraven the Hunter is a success, he’d like to follow up with an adaptation of the iconic “Kraven’s Last Hunt” Marvel Comics storyline, which does prominently feature Spider-Man.
“It would be the conclusion to the character that we’ve created,” he said. “So obviously, we gotta see what happens here and I’m super proud of the film that we’ve made. In the final scenes of this film, I think we’ve created a character that you can see going a lot of interesting places, so it would be a joy to get to do that.”
At this time, no crossover project between Kraven and Spider-Man — whether it be Tom Holland’s MCU superhero or any other version of the character — has been announced.
Kraven the Hunter releases in United States theaters on December 13, 2024.
