Captain America’s Anthony Mackie Explains Why He Wasn’t Nervous to Act Opposite Harrison Ford

Anthony Mackie may have initially been nervous about acting opposite Harrison Ford in the latest Captain America movie; however, any fears he had were cleared up after the first day on set.

Mackie is leading Marvel StudiosCaptain America: Brave New World, which will be released in United States theaters this coming February. Ford is playing Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in the film, replacing William Hurt, who played Ross in the MCU until he passed away in March 2022.

Speaking with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Mackie was asked if he was at all intimidated when having to act opposite Ford, a true Hollywood legend, in the film.

“The first day, I was kind of nervous, but then there was a dude who had to say a line and couldn’t get it right, [which] made me feel better about myself,” Mackie said. “He was really bad.”

He continued, “Harrison is dope because, every time before we roll, he was like, ‘Let’s shoot this piece of s—.’ I’m like, ‘F— yeah, Harrison. Let’s shoot this piece of s–.’ He’s amazing. He is the coolest cat.”

What is Captain America: Brave New World about?

“Anthony Mackie returns as the high-flying hero Sam Wilson, who’s officially taken up the mantle of Captain America, the synopsis for the Marvel movie reads. “After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.”

Kevin Feige and Nate Moore produce the film, while Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers.
