Originally, the plan was for Snyder’s new cut to be released as four one-hour episodes. However, Snyder recently indicated that it will now hit HBO Max as a four hour film.
Most of the material for the movie was already shot. Regardless, Snyder was able to reassemble several cast members and film some new scenes. Jared Leto even appeared in the new material, reprising his role as Joker from Suicide Squad. While HBO Max originally placed $30 million aside for this project, it reportedly cost $70 million to bring Snyder’s vision of the film to life.
Snyder has also indicated that none of Joss Whedon’s Justice League footage will remain in the film. Whedon was brought on board to complete the film’s reshoots, for reasons Snyder recently revisited. Soon, fans will be also able to judge his vision on its own merits.
