Superman Figure Box Set Evokes the Classic Max Fleischer Cartoons

The Max Fleischer Superman cartoons stand among some of the most influential superhero media of all time. Not only did they originate a style that would influence Bruce Timm and others many decades later, but they also added key elements to the mythology. Prior to these cartoons, Superman only jumped high. His power of flight, and the familiar “Faster than a speeding bullet” catchphrase, were Fleischer-firsts. Yet this era does not generally see toy form.

Mezco will change all that with their “Five Points” box set based on 1941’s short “The Mechanical Monsters.” Like Super7’s Reaction figures, this line operates in 3.75 inch scale, with five points of articulation. A jewelry store diorama reverses to become a villain’s lair. And a vintage telephone booth features transforming action to turn Clark Kent into Superman. Lois Lane and a giant robot also feature in the set, complete with accessories. Lois and Clark include a steno pad and notebook, and the robot boasts alternate wing arms, propeller, and flame effects. Superman also has alternate arms for dynamic posing, and a soft plastic cape.
