My Adventures With Superman Tie-in Comic Sets the Stage for Season 2

DC has announced a new comic set in the world of the hit Adult Swim animated series My Adventures With Superman.

According to DC, the My Adventures With Superman tie-in miniseries launches in comic shops early this coming June. The book serves to bridge the gap between Seasons 1 and 2 of the animated series of the same name. It teams writer Josie Campbell — producer of the animated series — with artist Pablo M. Collar. The debut issue features a main cover by Carli Squiteri, as well as variant covers by Gavin Guidry and Riley Rossmo. A blank sketch variant cover will also be available.

What is the My Adventures With Superman comic about?

DC’s My Adventures With Superman comic picks up right where Season 1 of Adult Swim’s animated series left off. An official synopsis reads as follows: “Clark Kent is a bit down and out, spending Christmas alone in Metropolis. But when he gets a tip about a monster in the sewers, Superman, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen spring into action to investigate this mystery. What is this monster that can absorb anything it touches, and why is it here in Metropolis?”

“Being the producer of My Adventures with Superman and bringing Clark Kent to TV screens around the world has been nothing but a dream come true for me,” Campbell said. “So I’m absolutely thrilled that Pablo and I get to bring fans even more adventures with Superman, this time in comic book form!”

Campbell continued, “This story is one we actually talked about in the writers room, but we didn’t have space for it in season one … So get ready for romance, comedy, super-powers, Jimmy Olsen talking a lot about how he’s super-rich now, and all the goodness of the show bundled into this action-packed miniseries.”

“I was completely in love with My Adventures with Superman the minute I saw the announcement of the series, and I jumped at the chance to work with Josie on the comic,” Collar added. “Superman has always been the reference and the symbol of all that’s good in us, and being part of something like this is a dream come true, and the whole team will give it our best.”

Campbell’s cartoon will be back for Season 2

My Adventures With Superman premiered on Cartoon Network‘s Adult Swim block in July 2023. The series reimagines Clark Kent (Jack Quaid), Lois Lane (Alice Lee), and Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid) as young adults interning at The Daily Planet. All the while, Clark is just staring out as Superman and struggling to make sense of his Kryptonian heritage.

Season 1 concluded with an awkward Thanksgiving between the Kents, the Lanes, and Jimmy — which quickly turned into a battle against an invading alien force. The finale established a new status quo, with Jimmy becoming a millionaire after selling the app he developed to The Daily Planet. It also teased a new threat in the form of a team-up between Brainiac and a Kryptonian warrior (implicitly General Zod). The planned second season is currently in production.

My Adventures With Superman #1 goes on sale Tuesday, June 4 from DC. The comic will be available for pre-order beginning Friday, March 15. In the meantime, the first season of the animated series the comic is based on is currently streaming on Max.
