It’s here, it’s weird, and it doesn’t tell the casual fan a whole lot. But Prime Video‘s first teaser for its Paper Girls adaptation does introduce the four leads, all of them 12 year-old newspaper delivery girls with problems. Following an open casting call, the show selected Sofia Rosinsky as Mac Coyle, the team leader and first local newspaper delivery girl, who inherited the route from her older brother. Camryn Jones is playing Tiffany Quilkin, the one-year veteran of paper delivery; Riley Lai Nelet is Erin Tieng, the newcomer to the job; and Fina Strazza plays KJ Brandman, who takes the paper route to feel free from her over-planned life.
The strange lights indicate that something’s amiss, while also giving each character a distinctive color apiece. Take a look in the player below:

For anyone not familiar with Paper Girls, that really doesn’t give you the remotest hint of what’s coming. In Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s original comics, the four get caught up in a time travel war, meet clones and future versions of themselves, and encounter fourth-dimensional beings and dinosaur-like creatures. No doubt the visual effects team will work on the material up until the last minute. And as of now, we don’t know when that will be. The teaser does not mention a release date yet, though there’s a late 2022 expectation.
