First Look at Netflix’s Adaptation of DC Comics’ Sweet Tooth

In a matter of weeks, Netflix will release the first live-action adaptation based on the DC comic book series by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth. The series, produced by Robert Downey Jr., has gotten an official trailer that introduces the fans to the world where humans and hybrids (half-human and half-animals) live side by side. But it appears that their coexistence is far from trouble-free. That’s when a deer-boy named Gus meets the wandering Jepperd, and takes on an incredible adventure.

Robert Downey Jr. will produce the series together with Susan Downey, Jim Mickle, Beth Schwartz, Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran. The official synopsis for Sweet Tooth reads:

“Ten years ago ‘The Great Crumble’ wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrids — babies born part human, part animal. Unsure if hybrids are the cause or result of the virus, many humans fear and hunt them. After a decade of living safely in his secluded forest home, a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery) unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together they set out on an extraordinary adventure across what’s left of America in search of answers— about Gus’ origins, Jepperd’s past, and the true meaning of home. But their story is full of unexpected allies and enemies, and Gus quickly learns the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined.”

Sweet Tooth will debut on Netflix on June 4. In the meantime, you can check a batch of freshly released photos in the gallery below. But the good news doesn’t end there. Author Lemire also revealed that the whole comic book series would be collected in one book starting in June.
