Star Wars: The Bad Batch Animated Series Coming To Disney+ In 2021

Earlier this year, Star Wars: The Clone Wars wrapped up its seventh and final season on Disney+. However, there won’t be a long gap between that show and the next Star Wars animated series. Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that Star Wars: The Bad Batch will debut next year as a Disney+ original animated series.

During the final season of The Clone Wars, the Bad Batch were introduced as a squad of misfit clones whose mutations gave them unique skills and abilities. The description of the new show also hints that it will take place after The Clone Wars series finale: “In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.”

Dave Filoni will executive produce The Bad Batch alongside head writer Jennifer Corbett. Brad Rau and Athena Portillo will also serve as executive producers alongside co-executive producer Carrie Beck and producer Josh Rimes.

“Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series,” said Disney+’s Agnes Chu. “While the Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch.”

Disney+ hasn’t set a debut date for Star Wars: The Bad Batch. However, it will arrive on the streaming service in 2021.
