Giancarlo Esposito definitely made an impact as Moff Gideon in the last two episodes of The Mandalorian’s first season . Throughout most of The Mandalorian’s first season, viewers were led to believe that Werner Herzog’s Client was the primary antagonist. However, it was eventually revealed that the Client was merely a pawn in Gideon’s employ. Esposito’s Moff Gideon was the one who wanted the mysterious Baby Yoda all along. And much to the audience’s shock, he was willing to eradicate the Client in order to achieve this goal.
Gideon was once an officer in the Imperial Security Bureau and oversaw the Great Purge of the Mandalorians. Somehow, Gideon also came into possession of the Darksaber, a weapon that first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
