The Witcher Videos Explore Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri
Fans of The Witcher are just days away from seeing Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. To further entice viewers, Netflix has debuted a trio of new videos, profiling certain characters.
First, there’s an introduction to Geralt of Rivia, as portrayed by Superman actor Henry Cavill. Geralt is a powerful warrior with “mutant” abilities, according to Cavill. He went on to explain why Geralt lacks a “cheery personality.” Cavill also noted that Geralt is “very capable of doing bad things.”
Next up is a video for Yennefer of Vengerberg, as played by Wanderlust actress Anya Chalotra. She explains that Yennefer is in a “constant battle with herself,” in a place of “frustration, rage” and “confusion.” The show finds Yennefer at a moment in which she evolves into someone stronger. This eventually enables her to cross paths with Geralt.

Finally, there’s Princess Cirilla, or Ciri for short, as portrayed by Freya Allan. In her video, Allan explains how her character is “special,” and “loyal to the people that she loves.” However, she lacks the experience to grasp what the world really has to offer. Relentless and stubborn, Ciri suddenly loses everything following an attack, and is asked to find Geralt of Rivia.
The Witcher will hit Netflix on December 20. A second season is also in the works, but won’t start filming until sometime next year.
