Next year, Jupiter’s Legacy will become the first Millarworld adaptation to hit Netflix. However, the upcoming series has just hit a creative road bump. Via Deadline, Steven S. DeKnight has stepped down from his showrunner position on Jupiter’s Legacy.
According to the report, DeKnight’s departure is over “creative differences” and a search for his replacement is under way. DeKnight created the TV series adaptation of Mark Millar and Frank Quitely’s Jupiter’s Legacy. The comic and the television show follow the first generation of superheroes, as well as their modern descendants who can’t live up to their predecessors.
DeKnight previously worked closely with Marvel and Netflix as the showrunner of Daredevil. Apparently, DeKnight wrote and directed the first episode of Jupiter’s Legacy and finished filming the first four episodes of the season before his departure.

Deadline’s report indicates that Jupiter’s Legacy won’t go on hiatus before a new showrunner is hired. Instead, producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott will screen the existing episodes alongside Millar and the new showrunner before determining if reshoots are necessary.
Jupiter’s Legacy stars Josh Duhamel, Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Matt Lanter and Mike Wade. It’s also the first Millarworld project produced by Netflix since it signed a multi-million deal with Millar. The series will debut on Netflix in 2020.
