Go Behind the Scenes of Swamp Thing with a New Photo and Video

DC Universe will expand its streaming library next year with a handful of new original programming. One of the new series, Swamp Thing, has been in production for about a month. It’s going to be awhile before we get a trailer, but to tide fans over until then, executive producer Len Wiseman has shared a few behind-the-scenes offerings to his Instagram account.

The photo shows Wiseman alongside actors Andy Bean and Crystal Reed in either a morgue or a laboratory setting. Both characters appear to be looking over something in the bottom right corner of the shot. But unfortunately, it’s not easy to discern what it is. Bean is leading the series as biologist Alec Holland, Swamp Thing’s human alter-ego. The titular monster will be played by Derek Mears with plenty of help from makeup and prosthetics.

Meanwhile, Reed is playing Abby Arcane, a CDC doctor who returns to her Louisiana hometown to investigate a deadly virus that may have originated in a local swamp. Alec fears that his experiments in the region may have caused the disease. Prior to his mutation, Alec works with Abby to get to the bottom of this new mystery.

Wiseman, who is directing the series’ pilot episode, also shared a video tour of the swamp where Holland will presumably undergo his transformation. The gondola music in the background doesn’t exactly vibe with the intended dark tone of the series. However, the fog-draped waters certainly look eerie enough to provide lots of thrills and chills when Swamp Thing premieres in 2019.
