Armor Wars Writer Reflects on Marvel’s Idea To Turn Disney+ Series Into Movie

Marvel Studios‘ updated slate of projects has fans excited, due in large part to the two confirmed Avengers sequels coming their way. Moreover, this era will also see the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU, this time as the villainous Doctor Doom. However, one project that has remained in production limbo ever since its announcement in 2020 is the Armor Wars movie. Despite being approved as a Disney+ series initially, it was announced in September 2022 that the story would now be re-vamped into a feature film. In a recent discussion, Armor Wars’ head writer, Yassir Lester, shared some of his thoughts on this surprise decision by Marvel.

Yassir Lester claims his Armor Wars story would’ve been a ‘very fun series’

Amor Wras’ head writer, Yassir Lester, recently talked about his original vision for the MCU’s Armor Wars as a series.

Lester discussed the project during a recent interview with ComicBook.com and started by explaining Marvel’s psychology behind retooling the Armor Wars series into a movie. “Marvel is constantly in a state of, like, ‘What is the most interesting?’ And I honestly believe some of their films should have been series and some of their series should have been films,” he said.

However, he also added that the entertainment giants have started to take note of such circumstances. “I think that they’re taking that more into account, giving that a little bit more thought now. As long as they haven’t started shooting it yet, it’s kind of like, who cares,” Lester continued.

Lester concluded by disclosing his personal take on Armor Wars’ transformation from series to movie. “I think that the story that I told is a very fun series,” he stated.

At the time of writing, the fate of the Armor Wars movie is still in question. War Machine actor Don Cheadle also provided a disappointing update in a recent interview, highlighting that he is not in the loop with the decision-making process for the project. Nevertheless, Marvel has yet to officially scrap the film.
