Did the Thunderbolts* Trailer Finally Reveal the Avengers Tower’s Buyer?

The first Thunderbolts* trailer is out and it may have teased one of the biggest questions MCU fans have had since Phase 3: Who bought the Avengers Tower in Spider-Man: Homecoming? The question was raised when a renovated Avengers tower briefly showed up in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The Avengers tower likely returns in the Thunderbolts* trailer

The new Thunderbolts* trailer raises many boiling questions. While uniting former spies, assassins, and super soldiers, it also gives us the biggest hint as to who Tony Stark sold the Avengers tower to.

Ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine’s release, Kevin Feige told Comicbook.com that fans will find the answer to why the Thunderbolts* title has an asterisk. He also confirmed that we’ll soon learn about the new owner of the Avengers Tower. Now, the answer almost seems to have been revealed in the trailer.

Its final few seconds recreate the iconic Avengers’ elevator scene from Endgame, only this time, it’s the Thunderbolts team members who use the elevator. They step out to meet Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, aka Val, in what’s possibly the newest version of Tony’s Stark Tower.

Familiar MCU scooper MyTimeToShineHello took to X (formerly Twitter) to state that Bucky, Yelena, and others met Val in the Avengers tower. While this doesn’t confirm who the owner of the new tower is, it does give fans a strong hint.

Did Val buy the Avengers Tower?

With Val likely uniting a new team of superpowered individuals in Thunderbolts*, it’s possible for her or perhaps the government to be the owner of the old Avengers tower. If it’s the former scenario, it’d be safe to assume that she plans to use the tower as the HQ for her new team.

The usage of the renovated building would still be the same if it is government-owned. After all, Val would get access to it being the director of the CIA. In the film, she could be assembling the MCU version of Marvel’s Dark Avengers, as the asterisk in the Thunderbolts* title could mean that it is a placeholder name for a new Avengers team. This gives her all the more reason to be using the OG Avengers’ headquarters.

Additionally, it’s also possible for Val to be the co-owner of the tower with some powerful villains such as Wilson Fisk. But we’ll know for sure when Thunderbolts* hits theaters on May 2, 2025.
