The Marvels presales The Flash Black Adam

The Marvels Presales Are Behind DC’s The Flash, Black Adam

Presales for The Marvels are currently tracking below DC’s The Flash and Black Adam.

According to a recent article published by Deadline, The Marvels is now looking to make less than $70 million during its opening weekend, which will put it below Eternals, a 2021 MCU movie that opened at $71.2 million. Deadline also says that presale tickets for The Marvels are currently tracking below 2023’s The Flash and 2022’s Black Adam, which respectively opened to $67 million and $55 million.

Captain Marvel, in comparison, made $153.4 million during its 2019 opening weekend before it went on to gross $1.128 billion at the worldwide box office.

The Marvels, which opens on November 10, 2023, was previously tracking to make $50-75 million during its opening weekend, according to Box Office Pro, before Deadline reported it could be between $75-80 million. The latest report putting it below $70 million means The Marvels could be one of the lowest openings for an MCU movie.

What is The Marvels about?

Serving as a sequel to both Captain Marvel and the 2022 Ms. Marvel miniseries, Marvel‘s The Marvels stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers, Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau.

“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence,” the official synopsis reads. “But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”

The Marvels releases in the United States on November 10, 2023, from Marvel Studios.
