TMNT: Mutant Mayhem 2 Shredder

TMNT: Mutant Mayhem 2 Will Be a ‘Villain-Forward’ Sequel Focused on Shredder

The upcoming sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will be a “villain-forward” movie focusing on Shredder.

Jeff Rowe, who directed 2023’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and is returning for the sequel, told Collider that Shredder will play a major role in the upcoming movie following his mid-credits scene tease in Mutant Mayhem.

“Shredder is just a great character,” Rowe said. “He’s an iconic, classic, loved character. He’s like the Joker. You know who he is, even if you’re not a fan of the source material. I think we definitely wanna do a villain-forward film. We’re currently trying to make decisions about that, but those decisions for us as filmmakers are always going to come from the place of what tells the best story, specifically about our main characters, the Turtles.”

A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles spin-off series is also in the works

On July 26, 2023, a sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was officially announced. At the same time, Paramount also announced a spin-off series, Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, from Nickelodeon Animation and Point Grey Pictures.

“In the nearly 40 years since ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ launched into the zeitgeist, it has entertained generations of fans and only continues to grow,” said Nickelodeon and Paramount chief Brian Robbins, via Variety. “We are excited to grow TMNT’s legacy in partnership with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg at Point Grey, and Jeff Rowe, who are innovating the franchise with their singular brand of humor and elevated storytelling for audiences everywhere, across virtually every platform.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was released in United States theaters on August 2, 2023. Receiving positive reviews from critics, the movie made approximately $180.5 million at the worldwide box office off a budget of $70 million. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is currently streaming on Paramount+.
