Disney Parks Reveal ‘Real’ Lightsaber for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

For this year’s Star Wars Day, Disney Parks has revealed an exciting first look at a retractable lightsaber. Yes, it’s true…all of it. Fans who will embark on a journey in a galaxy far, far away on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will have the chance to see it in live-action at Walt Disney World Resort. Had things gone according to Disney Parks plans, the full-immersion attraction would have debuted in 2021. But then COVID-19 hit, and it has just been announced that it will launch somewhere in 2022. The announcement video features an actress portraying Rey, who is showing off her blue saber while talking about the balance between light and darkness. (Technically, Disney’ Galaxy’s Edge takes place in the timeline before she got her yellow version.)

You can watch the first look at the lightsaber in the video below. And May 4th be with you.

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will allow fans to enter a Starcruiser Terminal where they will board a launch pod, bringing them to live a two-night adventure aboard a starship called The Halcyon. Once onboard, fans will become active participants in stories that unfold around them 24/7 on their galactic journey. The experience will also feature some lightsaber training, which will likely feature some of the lightsabers that have been revealed recently. Before the end of the journey on the Halcyon starcruiser, fans will be offered a ride to the planet Batuu where they can further their adventure with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You can check out some concept art in the gallery below.
