Back in January, Marvel Studios hired WandaVision scribe Megan McDonnell to write Captain Marvel 2. Now, it appears that Marvel has lined up a replacement for Captain Marvel directors Anne Bowden and Ryan Fleck.
According to Deadline, Nia DaCosta has closed a deal to direct Captain Marvel 2. DaCosta previously directed Little Woods, as well as the upcoming remake of Candyman. Marvel and Disney have not yet confirmed the news, and they declined to comment on the story.

Beyond Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, it’s unclear who will star in the sequel. Marvel Studios’ WandaVision will introduce Teyonah Parris as older version of Monica Rambeau. Monica was played by Akira Akbar in Captain Marvel. Additionally, Ben Mendelsohn and Sharon Blynn briefly reprised their roles as Talos and Soren in Spider-Man: Far From Home. That film also revealed that Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is somewhere in space on a Skrull ship.
Captain Marvel 2 is currently slated to hit theaters on July 8, 2022. However, Marvel hasn’t set a date for the film to begin production.
