Marvel Comics has announced Amazing Spider-Man: Blood Hunt — a Blood Hunt tie-in series centering on classic Spidey rogue Morbius the Living Vampire.
Per Marvel, Amazing Spider-Man: Blood Hunt launches in mid-May from writer Justina Ireland and artist Marcelo Ferreira. The three-issue limited series follows Spider-Man as he joins forces with both Misty Knight and the Lizard in an attempt to rescue Dr. Michael Morbius from the vampire overlord laying waste to the Marvel Universe. The House of Ideas teases that the not-so-good doctor could help bring about Earth’s salvation — or its doom.

It’s Morbin’ time again
A synopsis for Amazing Spider-Man: Blood Hunt reads as follows: “Spidey’s mission in BLOOD HUNT has become clear and, of course, it involves his old friend Michael Morbius. After he discovers the importance of his fanged foe in the vampire’s overall plans, Peter will have to decide if he needs to take him out or save him!”
Marvel further explains that “Morbius‘ unique self-inflicted bloodlust may hold the key to reversing” the eternal night threatening to consume the Marvel U. However, it could just as easily strengthen it, thus expediting humanity’s downfall.
“Getting to write Morbius, The Living Vampire, has been a lot of fun,” Ireland said. “He’s always been a delightful foil to Spider-Man and other heroes of the Marvel Universe, and I hope I can capture the determination to change one’s fate that I’ve always loved about the character. Well, that and the brooding.”
“I was really excited when my editor invited me to be a part of the BLOOD HUNT crossover by means of penciling the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN tie-in limited series!” Ferreira added. “It is double special for me, because it is a return to two characters that I’ve drawn before and that have a special place in my heart: Spidey and Morbius! Or maybe I can say triple special, because it also involves vampires. I think my art perfectly matches these darker themes.”
Amazing Spider-Man: Blood Hunt is far from the only Blood Hunt tie-in
The main story of Blood Hunt will play out in the eponymous five-issue limited series by Jed MacKay and Pepe Larraz — which launches on Wednesday, May 1. However, the vampiric saga will also unfold in a number of tie-in comics.
Amazing Spider-Man: Blood Hunt is seventh tie-in limited series Marvel has announced — following Black Panther: Blood Hunt (launching May 29), Union Jack the Ripper: Blood Hunt (launching May 15, the same day as Amazing Spider-Man), Blood Hunters (launching May 8), Dracula: Blood Hunt (launching May 8), Midnight Sons: Blood Hunt (launching May 29), and Strange Academy Blood Hunt (launching May 8).
Amazing Spider-Man: Blood Hunt #1 goes on sale Wednesday, May 15 from Marvel Comics.
