Rita Ora Reportedly Joining MCU in Villainous Role

Rita Ora is reportedly joining the MCU in a villainous role.

Ora is a British pop star who is married to Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi. She previously played Mia Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, while she’s also starred as Dr. Ann Laurent in 2019’s Pokémon Detective Pikachu.

What do we know about Rita Ora reportedly joining the MCU?

According to The Sun UK, a publication with mixed results when it comes to breaking scoops, Ora is now going to be playing a villain in a new Marvel Studios project.

“A friend of mine was rubbing shoulders with the singer at the British Fashion Awards when they overheard Rita chatting about her new role,” the article reads. “They told me: ‘Rita was dressed like a baddie from a Marvel film, and when someone commented on it she let slip she has a part in a new Marvel film. She confirmed she had landed the role of someone evil and that she was super excited about getting stuck into it.’”

No official announcement about Ora’s casting has been made by Marvel at this time. It’s also worth noting that Waititi has not publicly signed on to helm another MCU project at this time.

Up next for the MCU is the Disney+ animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which will premiere on January 29, 2025. Following that, Captain America: Brave New World hits United States theaters on February 14, 2025, before Daredevil: Born Again debuts on March 4, 2025.

Thunderbolts* then arrives on May 2, 2025, before Ironheart, which is the final project in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, premieres on June 24, 2025. The Multiverse Saga continues in Phase Six, which kicks off on July 25, 2025, with The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Other Phase Six movies that have been announced include Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, Avengers: Secret Wars, and Blade, while forthcoming television series include Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, Wonder Man, and the Vision series.
