New Venom 3 trailer offers first look at The Last Dance villain, Knull
After battling Riot, Carnage, and Shriek in the first two Venom movies, Venom: The Last Dance is set to bring in multiple villains, including the creator of all Symbiotes, Knull.
The following trailer offers a glimpse at the big bad:
Sony has yet to reveal who plays Knull in Venom: The Last Dance. But it is widely rumored that Rhys Ifans could be playing him.
The following X (formerly Twitter) post offers a close-up look at him:
Knull made his debut in Thor: God of Thunder #6. His existence predates the Universe, and throughout his Marvel Comics history, he has battled several heroes including The Avengers. He started as the god of darkness. When the Celestials entered his kingdom with the light of creation, Knull went to war with them. He created the first Symbiote in the form of the all-black Necrosword and used it to sever a Celestial’s head. He then used the head to refine the abilities of the Necrosword.
In the MCU, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Knowhere draws inspiration from the head of the celestial that Knull severed in the comics. Meanwhile, the Necrosword debuted in the hands of Thor: Love and Thunder’s Gorr the God Butcher. However, the MCU is yet to establish a connection with Knull, who is only a part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe currently.
In this dimension, he created every symbiote including Venom, and they are all connected to the Symbiote Hive. With Venom becoming Earth’s Lethal Protector, Knull sends more Symbiotes to take him down and conquer the planet in the latest trailer.
But it’s worth noting that the Symbiote God carries great potential to become the SSU’s Thanos-level threat. Whether he is defeated in this movie or is set up as the big bad for a Sinister Six crossover event in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe remains to be seen.
More will unravel when Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters on October 25, 2024.
