Marvel Rivals Closed Beta Test Set for July, Venom & Adam Warlock Revealed

The 6v6 superhero team-based PVP shooter Marvel Rivals announces its closed beta test on the PS5 for July with the addition of Venom and Adam Warlock on its massive roster.

“We want every fan of Marvel Rivals to dive into a superhero world unlike ever before. You’re not just higher-dimensional beings controlling game characters, nor are you elite players pressing buttons at high APM — you ARE the heroes,” said Marvel Rivals producer Stephen Wu (per Playstation Blog).

“We wanted to take these Super Heroes and push them like never before! Use Magneto to cast Metal Bulwark to protect your teammates from projectile damage. Choose Hela and call upon forces of Nastrond to annihilate your enemies. Choose Venom to tap into the power of the symbiote and devour your enemies or pick Adam Warlock and unleash the potential of quantum magic, establishing a soul bond with your teammates to charge ahead or resurrect your entire team. Better yet, leverage the power of flight by choosing Iron Man, Storm, and other flying heroes to suppress enemies using aerial combat techniques.”

Among Marvel Rivals’ unique gaming features includes Team-Up Abilities where gamers can take two Marvel characters and combine their special powers. For example, Spider-Man and Venom can “morph into a united Venomized force, piercing through the battlefield with dark, lethal spikes.” Additionally, the game features destructible environments and Playstation-exclusive content, such as the “Scarlet Spider” costume, which will be made available on the day of the closed beta launch.

What is Marvel Rivals about?

Developed by NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals sees a conflict between Dr. Doom and his 2099 variant cause the multiverse to merge into a ‘Timestream Entanglement’. With 21 playable Marvel superheroes and villains, including Spider-Man, Magneto, and Black Panther, players must battle their way to the climatic showdown with the Doom variants before they claim the new worlds in the multiverse.

Set to be free to play upon release, Marvel Rivals’ closed beta test will arrive on the PS5 in July. Additionally, the game will have a closed beta on Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Xbox Series SIS that same month.
