Today is a big day for fans of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series, as Nintendo has released the latest chapter in the series for Nintendo Switch. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is perhaps the most ambitious entry in the series to date, with its loaded roster, a new story and numerous multiplayer options. But some new online information suggests that its future plans are much bigger than fans could have realized.
Based on this report from Resetera, there’s a lot of content on the way for the game. The publisher did give us a glimpse of what’s in store during Comic-Con’s Marvel Games panel, with the first Marvel Knights pack coming this fall. But that’s just the beginning, based on what dataminer Demonslayerx8 has found.
Digging into the game’s code, he’s managed to find four characters that have yet to be officially unveiled by the publisher. These include Black Bolt, Medusa, Vision and Valkyrie. They don’t fit in with either the pre-announced Fantastic Four or X-Men groups. So it’s possible they’ll be included via free update, or through another downloadable content pack, over the course of the year.
The information also reveals that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 will make room for up to 49 downloadable characters in all with its available slots. There’s also room for 15 non-playable characters, 30 bosses, and 80 “background” characters, based on the details. Demonslayerx8 wasn’t able to find specific names past the ones above, but this bodes well for what’s to come with the game.

Nintendo did not confirm any details aside from what came out of yesterday’s panel. So take all of this with a grain of salt for now. However, the company has provided updates with several of its Nintendo Switch games. These include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. And considering the vast library of Marvel characters to draw from, why should Ultimate Alliance 3 be any different?
