Peacemaker Season 2 star John Cena recently revealed that the opening dance number will be just as great as Season 1, even if it’s not to the tune of Wig Wam’s “Do You Wanna Taste It.”
One of the few holdovers from the DC Extended Universe, Peacemaker Season 2 will fully bring Cena’s titular antihero into the DC Universe following a brief cameo in the adult animated series Creature Commandos. Despite being billed as “Season 2,” Peacemaker’s first season, which aired back on HBO Max in 2022, is not officially canon to the DCU, although series creator/DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has shared that almost the entire season, aside from the Justice League cameo in the finale, still occurred in the new universe.
With a new universe comes a new opening for Peacemaker. Cena recently teased what fans can expect from the Season 2 dance number during an interview with Collider. While he didn’t reveal which song the opening credits would be set to, the actor shared that he thought the Season 2 intro was a worthy successor to the one from Season 1.
“Then, when it became such a part of the show, I think everybody this time was just so excited, and I really think that’s going to show. I’m very happy with it. I want to say so much more, but I’ll just say I’m very happy with it,” Cena teased. “Everyone was super enthused and also understood how important it is this time around, and I really hope that shows. I know the show is great. In my mind, the opening number is great. I hope the world agrees.”

When does Peacemaker Season 2 come out?
In November 2024, Casey Bloys, the CEO of Max and HBO, revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 would premiere on Max in August 2025, a month after Gunn’s Superman movie hits theaters worldwide.
Besides Cena, the cast for Peacemaker Season 2 includes Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, and Nhut Le — who are all returning from the first season as Leota Adebayo, Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Emilia Harcourt, John Economos, August Smith/White Dragon, and Judomaster, respectively. The cast also includes Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux and Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury.
David Denman, Anissa Matlock, Taylor St. Clair, Dorian Kingi, and Brandon Stanley have additionally been cast in undisclosed roles, while Frank Grillo reprises his role from Creature Commandos and Superman as Rick Flag Sr., the father of the late Rick Flag Jr., who was portrayed by Joel Kinnaman in the two DCEU Suicide Squad movies.
