Creature Commandos Star Won’t Make Live-Action Debut in Superman

Creature Commandos star David Harbour has revealed that Superman will not feature the live-action debut of Eric Frankenstein.

Which Creature Commandos character is confirmed to appear in James Gunn’s Superman?

Less than a week after DC Studios head James Gunn hinted that Creature Commandos and Superman share “some characters,” implying more than just the previously confirmed Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), fans have been speculating over which characters might make the jump to live-action next. Unfortunately, those who were hoping for Harbour to appear in Superman as a live-action Eric Frankenstein have just been handed some bad news.

While speaking with Screen Rant to discuss Creature Commandos, Harbour confirmed that he would not be appearing as Eric Frankenstein in Superman, although he was certainly open for Frankenstein’s live-action debut in the upcoming HBO series Lanterns. “I saw the Lanterns thing, that sounds really interesting. That sounds really interesting, but I don’t think he belongs in that one. So it’s sort of a combination of what I think [where] he belongs in and what I would like,” Harbour remarked. “I know he’s not in Superman, so don’t worry!”

After the Screen Rant interviewer mentioned that they “would have killed to see him in Superman,” Harbour responded with a laugh, “He’s just on the streets, just [going] ‘Whoa, who is that?!'”

With Eric Frankenstein off the table, some fans have wondered if one of Alan Tudyk’s three characters in Creature Commandos might be in Superman given that the actor is confirmed to be playing a mystery role in the movie. In the animated series, Tudyk voices Doctor Phosphorus, Clayface, and Will Magnus. However, Tudyk is also an accomplished voice actor and is no stranger to voicing animals like the rooster Heihei in the Moana films, leading some to wonder if Tudyk might be voicing Krypto the Superdog in Superman.

With the first trailer for Superman rumored to be coming soon, DC Universe fans might not have to wait long to see their first official glimpse at the hotly-anticipated reboot, which is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2025.
