Werewolf by Night 2 Gets Optimistic Update From Director

Two years after Werewolf by Night‘s release on Disney+, director Michael Giacchino has offered an update on the sequel’s whereabouts.

What happens in Werewolf by Night?

Released in October 2022 as the first Marvel Studios Special Presentation, Werewolf by Night follows a secret cabal of monster hunters who are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic at Bloodstone Temple. The special was praised by critics for its use of practical effects and the black-and-white cinematography, which was favorably compared to the classic Universal Monsters movies. A colorized version of Werewolf by Night was released on Disney+ in October 2023.

Werewolf by Night was the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first full-fledged horror project, introducing audiences to fan-favorite characters from the comics like Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, and the titular Werewolf by Night. While a sequel to Werewolf by Night has been teased since 2022, nothing has been officially announced yet, much to the chagrin of the MCU fandom.

While speaking with Brandon Davis (via X) alongside his son, Mick Giacchino, Giacchino opened up about a potential sequel to Werewolf by Night, explaining, “There’s been a lot going on in the industry and everyone sort of recalibrating. I think certain things had to be just put aside for the moment. We’ll get there.”

In October 2023, Giacchino confirmed that there had been “talks” about a Werewolf by Night follow-up, although nothing concrete. Luckily for fans, if Marvel Studios were to greenlight a sequel, the composer/director already has some ideas about where to take the titular werewolf and Elsa Bloodstone next.

“My wish is that, yes, there will be more with these characters. I would love to, and I have ideas of what I would love to do with them, and it’s all crazy and nuts, but I think that’s the only way to go about it,” he said. “So, hopefully, one day. Hopefully, one day.”
