The Boys Star Antony Starr Expresses Excitement for DCU Amid Casting Theories

The Boys star Antony Starr may be excited about James Gunn‘s DC Universe, but that doesn’t mean that he’s ready to reveal whether he’s actually part of the superhero franchise.

After DC fans noticed that Starr and Gunn had followed each other on Instagram, many began to wonder if this meant that Starr had joined the DCU. While speaking with ComicBook.com to promote the upcoming fourth season of The Boys, Starr dismissed the casting theories, explaining that “Me and James just play golf.”

However, the actor did share that he thought Gunn was an “amazing” filmmaker and that he “cannot wait to see what he does with the DC Universe.” He added, “I think he’s a phenomenal director, producer, talent. He’s one of the biggest brands in the industry, so I’m excited to see what he cooks up.”

Who do fans want to see Antony Starr play in the DC Universe?

There are two roles that the majority of DC fans seem keen on seeing Starr potentially play in the DCU: Reverse-Flash and Booster Gold. While the latter is set to headline his own live-action series on Max, the former’s future in the DCU remains unclear. Following the box office failure of 2023’s The Flash, all plans for the Scarlet Speedster were put on hold.

At the time of writing, The Flash joins Aquaman as the only major Justice Leaguers to not have a new project in the works at DC Studios. Superman and Batman each have a new solo film in development, while the Wonder Woman and Green Lantern franchises are heading to the small screen with the Max series Paradise Lost and Lanterns, respectively.

The Boys Season 4 arrives on Prime Video next month

In The Boys Season 4, “the world is on the brink,” reads the official synopsis. “Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”

The first three seasons of The Boys are streaming on Prime Video, with Season 4 set to premiere on June 13, 2024.
