X-Men ’97 Creator Fired Ahead of Disney+ Series Premiere

X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo has been fired from the series, according to a recent report from THR.

DeMayo and Marvel have parted ways just a week ahead of X-Men ’97’s premiere on Disney+, and just after he had finished writing the second season of the animated series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The report also mentions that DeMayo and Marvel were even discussing ideas for a third season of the show. Now, however, things seem different.

DeMayo’s social media profiles have remained silent

No specific reason for DeMayo’s firing has been given, but according to THR, his company email has been deactivated, and cast and crew involved with the series were notified that he would no longer be working on the project. DeMayo’s Instagram account has also been deactivated, leading many to wonder what happened.

DeMayo was originally hired by Marvel Studios in 2021 and quickly became one of the top creatives in the company. Alongside writing X-Men ’97, DeMayo also wrote on the live-action series Moon Knight, as well as providing early drafts of Blade. Since the time of this writing, DeMayo has not come forward on what happened between him and Marvel Studios.
