A crew member at CBS Radford Studios working on Marvel’s Wonder Man has died after an on-set accident, according to Deadline.
The crew member — employed as a rigger — was working on the upcoming Marvel series when an accident occurred in the rafters. This accident caused the worker to fall from the upper levels of the CBS studio on Tuesday, February 6.
According to Deadline’s report, filming was not underway when the incident occurred; the series isn’t expected to begin production until next month.
Marvel has acknowledged the incident, and released a statement to Deadline following the news. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident,” reads the statement.
The Wonder Man series is being developed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and writer-producer Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community), with Guest serving as the head writer and Cretton executive producing and directing some episodes. The project will be a part of Cretton’s overall deal with the studio. In addition to Cretton, The Photograph filmmaker Stella Meghie will multiple episodes.
The Disney+ series will be led by Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams/Wonder Man. In addition to Abdul-Mateen, the Wonder Man cast includes Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams/Grim Reaper, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, Lauren Glazier, and Josh Gad.
