Stranger Things Actor Confirms They’re Not Returning for the Final Season

Eduardo Franco’s Argyle isn’t returning for the final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things.

Speaking with Steve Varley on the Steve Varley Show, per What’s on Netflix, Franco was asked if he could share whether or not his character would be returning for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things after fans noticed he wasn’t in a cast photo that was shared earlier this week.

Franco answered, “It’s nice to hear that there’s, there’s some sort of, you know, concern or something, you know what I mean?  But I’ve never, I never got a phone call. So I think, yeah, I think that’s it.”

Franco’s Argyle was introduced in the fourth season of Stranger Things as a friend of Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) who delivers pizza for Surfer Boy Pizza. He rescued Jonathan, Will, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and Agent Harmon (Ira Amyx) after their house was attacked by military soldiers before he then went on to help Eleven face the evil entity known as Vecna.

Stranger Things Season 5 is now in production

Production on Stranger Things Season 5 officially began on January 8, 2024. Co-creator Matt Duffer recently told The Guardian about the final season of the show, “This season — it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun, because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one. And, yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven and Dustin and Lucas and Hopper, their stories are done here. That’s it…”

Stranger Things also stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, and Brett Gelman, among others.

Stranger Things Season 5 does not yet have a release date from Netflix.
