Paul Reiser Cast as The Legend in The Boys Season 3

This week on The Boys, there’s a familiar face joining the cast. Via Variety, Amazon Prime Video announced that veteran actor Paul Reiser has been cast as The Legend in The Boys season 3. Reiser’s character is based upon Old Legend from the original comic book series by Garth Ennis and artist Darrick Robertson. This character is also a very open parody of one of Marvel’s most famous writers and editors: Stan Lee.

Within The Boys comic, Old Legend was a comic book shop owner who had encyclopedic knowledge about almost every supe in the world. He also had a tendency to speak only to Butcher, even when the other members of the team were present. In the announcement, Amazon described The Legend as “an iconic fan-favorite character from the original comic book series.” Amazon also passed along the first picture of Reiser in costume, which is posted above.

Reiser is no stranger to genre projects, since he has a recurring role in Netflix’s Stranger Things as Dr. Sam Owens. He also co-starred in James Cameron’s Aliens, in addition to Beverly Hills Cop and its sequel, Beverly Hills Cop II. However, Reiser is best known for starring in the sitcom Mad About You.

As noted above, Reiser will make his debut on the series in this week’s fifth episode of season 3. It’s unclear if Reiser will appear again this season. But since The Boys has already been renewed for season 4, the door is probably open for Reiser to return.

Amazon Prime Video is releasing new episodes of The Boys every Friday through July 8. The next episode will premiere on Friday, June 17.
