House of the Dragon Character Posters and New Teaser Set the Stage

It seems that no matter what era Westeros finds itself in, people are still talking about the game and the throne. And in the latest House of the Dragon teaser, some familiar music helps further that familiar connection for viewers. Here is more of the stuff you liked — along with many more blond wigs. And there’s plenty of that Targaryen hair to go around in the new set of House of the Dragon character posters from HBO.

But first, check out the teaser:

Indeed, if there’s a defining trait of Game of Thrones‘ House Targaryen — besides homicidal insanity, that is — it’s the long, bleached-out hair that does not exist in nature, at least in our world. Not every major character is part of the dreaded dragon family, but it looks like we’ll get to know many who are. Matt Smith’s Prince Daemon has thus far gotten most of the media attention, but he’s far from the only badass blondie in the bunch.

As a reminder, here’s who else we’re looking at, per official synopses. Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) is Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and First of His Name. Princess Rhaenys (Eve Best) had a stronger claim to the throne, but her gender counted against her. Viserys’ eldest child Rhaenyra (Emma D’arcy) has pure Valyrian blood, and is a dragonrider, but unfortunately for her in her time, also isn’t a man. Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) serves as Hand of the King; his daughter Alicent (Olivia Cooke) “possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.”

Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) leads the rival Valyrian House of Velaryon. Dubbed the Sea Snake his nautical adventures have earned him control of the largest navy in the world. And a treasury larger than that of the Lannisters. Young Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) is just a common Dornish man in the Kingsguard, but he knows how to fight. Finally, Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) serves as an unlikely ally and confidant to Prince Daemon, having worked her way up from nothing.
