Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Trailer Charts the Stars With Captain Pike

If Gene Roddenberry had his way, the original Star Trek series would have followed the adventures of Captain Pike and his crew. However, the series was reworked after the pilot episode and Leonard Nimoy’s Spock was the only character to remain. Regardless, Pike returned in the original series story, “The Menagerie,” as well as the reboot films, and the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, And next month, Pike’s crew will finally get their own series in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Unlike many of the current Star Trek shows, Strange New Worlds will embrace single-episode stories. Essentially, it’s trying to recreate the flavor of the original series. Within the new trailer from Paramount+, it’s hard not to see a little of Kirk in Pike’s portrayal here. He’s clearly a man who loves his job. It also looks like young Spock is going to get his Pon Farr on.
