NBC has just taken another step toward bringing its Quantum Leap reboot to life. According to Deadline, the network has hired Helen Shaver to direct the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer on the potential series.
Shaver most recently helmed three episodes of HBO Max’s Station Eleven miniseries and two episodes of Netflix’s Maid. Her other sci-fi credits include Westworld, Snowpiercer, Lovecraft Country, and Orphan Black. Before making a name for herself as a director, she started her professional career as an actress, appearing in films like The Amityville Horror and The Color of Money.
As of now, Scott Bakula hasn’t come aboard the reboot to reprise his iconic role as Dr. Sam Beckett. Regardless, he has had conversations with the producers about getting involved in some way. The new series will introduce new explorers who restart the Quantum Leap project 30 years after Sam’s disappearance. However, no other cast members have been announced yet.
