Before the first episode of Marvel’s What If…?, series star Jeffrey Wright singled out the Doctor Strange story has his personal favorite. While speaking with EW, Wright said “I was really taken by the Doctor Strange episode, which you will see when you get there. For some reason, it just really pulled at my emotions… When you land on that one, you’ll land in a place where I sat up even further in my seat.”
That particular episode is coming up this week, and that’s why there’s a new Doctor Strange character poster for the new episode of What If…? on Disney+.

Additionally, there’s a video promo for the episode that depicts Strange’s battle with himself. That’s not a euphemism, as two versions of the good doctor are at each others’ throats. But only one version of Doctor Strange can truly be the Sorcerer Supreme. And something has caused one of the Stranges to turn away from the Ancient One’s teachings towards a much darker path.
The fourth episode of What If…? premieres on Wednesday, September 1 on Disney+.
