New Stargirl Season 2 Poster Teases the Threat of Eclipso

In just a few weeks, Eclipso will break free of his diamond prison and descend on the inhabitants of Blue Valley. And judging by the new poster for Stargirl season 2, he’s looking to trap Courtney Whitmore’s friends in a similar fate. The CW has just released new key art for the series return. And it shows Courtney’s allies encased in a familiar diamond shape. Check it out for yourself below.

Stargirl first hinted at Eclipso’s appearance at the end of season 1 last year. In the season finale, Cindy Burman/Shiv discovered the glowing gem containing the villain’s essence located inside the Wizard’s storage unit. But viewers will finally get to see him in the flesh next month, as played by Nick Tarabay. The CW previously revealed an early look at Tarabay in full Eclipso makeup earlier this year.  Unfortunately, last month’s trailer failed to show any good footage of him in action.

Eclipso isn’t the only bad guy coming to Stargirl in season 2. The new episodes will also introduce Jonathan Cake as Richard Swift, a.k.a. The Shade. Other new additions include Jim Gaffigan as the voice of Thunderbolt and Ysa Penarejo as Jade, the daughter of Alan Scott/Green Lantern. And of course, we can also anticipate the return of Courtney’s Justice Society teammates to help her keep their town safe.

Stargirl season 2 premieres on Tuesday, August 10 on The CW.
