Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Loki episode 5!
One of the strangest things to emerge from Loki is the new alternate version of the title character: Alligator Loki. Even the other Lokis aren’t entirely sure if the alligator is lying about his status as a Loki. Regardless, lying would strength the case that he is a Loki. He may also be the one of the show’s breakout characters.
Loki director Kate Herron has shared a picture on Twitter of the alligator’s on-set stand-in. She also jokingly calls him a diva and “the most demanding actor.”
Happy Episode Five “Journey into Mystery” @LokiOfficial day! Here is one the biggest divas and the most demanding actor I’ve ever had to work with, taking a break from his reign of terror to relax in his chair #alligatorloki #loki pic.twitter.com/3WH57yt0Bz

While speaking with Marvel.com, Herron also offered some insight into the alligator’s creation.
“We were talking about [how] we want to meet many different versions of Loki in this show,” said Waldron. “I was just like, there should be an Alligator Loki. And it’s like, well, why? Because he’s green.”
“It’s so stupid, but it also makes total sense,” added Waldron. “You almost have to take it seriously, like maybe he is [a Loki]? Why shouldn’t there be an alligator version of Loki? For all we know, that’s an alligator universe or whatever. It’s just the sort of irreverent thing that, in this show, we play straight and make the audience take it seriously.”
The first five episodes of Loki are streaming on Disney+. Episode 6 will premiere on Wednesday, July 14.
