The renewal of The Flash was never in question. But beyond Grant Gustin, the original cast members weren’t lined up for season 8. However, that’s no longer the case. Deadline is reporting that Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, and Candice Patton have all signed new deals for the eighth season.
Martin plays Joe West, a Central City Police Detective who has been with the series since the beginning. Joe was Barry Allen’s guardian, and he’s also the father of Patton’s Iris West-Allen. Other than Gustin, Panabaker has been with the Arrowverse longer than any other remaining cast member. She made her debut as Dr. Caitlin Snow during the second season of Arrow. Later seasons of The Flash also introduced Caitlin’s alter ego, Killer Frost.
Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes, the other remaining original cast members, have already left the series. Although Valdes is reportedly guest-starring in the season finale.

At eight seasons, The Flash will soon match the run of Arrow. Regardless, it’s unclear if The Flash season 8 will be the end of the series. Deadline’s report didn’t indicate whether Martin, Panabaker, or Patton’s deals included options for season 9.
The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW.
