Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Batwoman season 2 episode 8!
Ruby Rose’s departure from Batwoman paved the way for Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder to take over the title role. It also set in motion the in-storyline search for Kate Kane, the previous Batwoman. Although evidence of Kate’s demise was mounting, her survival was revealed in this Sunday’s episode as a badly burned woman in bandages was spotted wearing Kate’s signature necklace. Now, TVLine is reporting that Krypton veteran Wallis Day is taking over the role of Kate Kane going forward.
“Wallis Day is going to be playing our altered version of Kate Kane, and she’s an amazing actress,” said Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries in a statement to TVLine. “I’m excited for you guys to see the journey that she endures.”
Additionally, the report indicates that the rest of the season will explore where Kate has been during her absence. And what role she will play in the future.

Super excited to finally announce I’m joining the cast of Batwoman. I’m sure you can imagine how much this means to me and how incredible it’s been working on the show so far. Everyone’s made me feel so welcome and it’s amazing being back home with my DC family https://t.co/UJpkF1uAAC
