Disney+’s Moon Knight Series Lines Up Two New Directors

It looks like Mohamed Diab won’t be the only man behind the camera when Marvel’s Moon Knight series gets underway. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have joined the show as the latest additions to its directorial team.

Benson and Moorhead are known for their work on the indie circuit helming sci-fi horror movies. They earned rave reviews in 2017 for The Endless, which they also starred in. Two years later, they followed up that film with Synchronic, another sci-fi horror movie that starred Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan. Last year, Benson and Moorhead also co-directed the “8” episode of CBS All Access’ The Twilight Zone.

Yesterday, HBO’s Watchmen cinematographer Gregory Middleton revealed his own involvement with Moon Knight on social media. Middleton also confirmed that Oscar Isaac would be headlining the series as Marc Spector (and his various other split personalities). Isaac’s name had been connected to the show as early as October, but Marvel never actually made it official. Surprisingly, Kevin Feige didn’t even comment on Isaac’s casting at last month’s Disney Investor Day presentation.

Marvel Studios’ venture into TV begins in earnest next week with the arrival of WandaVision’s first two episodes on Disney+. This will be followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in March and Loki in May. The studio is also working on She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and other new heroes making their MCU debut.

Moon Knight will begin production in Budapest in March. Disney+ has yet to announce a release date for the series.
