Battle Lines Are Drawn in the First Trailer For The Stand

For the first time in over two decades, Stephen King’s The Stand is heading back to television this winter. ABC previously adapted The Stand in 1994, but CBS All Access is behind the new incarnation. During New York Comic Con’s Metaverse event, CBS All Access released the first full trailer for The Stand, and the battle lines have been drawn.

Within the novel and the miniseries, most of humanity was wiped out by a plague. However, the survivors were soon drawn to two opposing sides. Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) appears in dreams to gather people to her sanctuary. But Alexander Skarsgård’s Randall Flagg prefers a more hands on approach to his recruitment. He also isn’t very shy about showing off his dark powers.

The new trailer shows that Mother Abagail has also had a dream encounter with Flagg’s wolf form. He’s been trying to recruit some of her followers to his side as well. Additionally, the clips introduce viewers to Jovan Adepo’s Larry Underwood and James Marsden’s Stu Redman, two of the pivotal characters from the book.

Odessa Young also stars in this miniseries as Frannie Goldsmith, with Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, Henry Zaga as Nick Andros, and Brad William Henke as Tom Cullen.

The Stand will premiere on CBS All Access on Thursday, December 17.
