Well, it looks like the COVID-19 is starting to loosen its grip on the film industry, especially in New Zealand. According to a new report by Deadline, a few Hollywood projects are resuming production on there. The first one, Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings, has already begun to film again in recent days. The series had almost closed its second episode when the pandemic shutdown began. Fortunately, Amazon’s original plan was to take a break after episode 2 to allow the writers to move forward with the story before filming on the first season continued. Now that the health emergency seems to have settled down, the cast is ready to return to the Second Age of Middle-earth.

But Amazon’s upcoming show is not the only one that has been granted waivers. Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bepop TV series should restart on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Aside from the ongoing global emergency, the production had to stop for a year while star John Cho recovered from his knee injury. In the meantime, the production on the first-ever live-adaptation of Sweet Tooth restarted on Sept. 14. In May, Netflix ordered a first season consisting of eight episodes from Jeff Lemire’s eponymous comic book series.
