The final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is just over a week away. But before the agents embark on their last mission, ABC is offering an early look at the season premiere. A new clip from the episode has made its way online. Judging by the dialogue, this scene takes place shortly after the team’s arrival in Depression-era New York City.
The series’ impending conclusion is definitely bittersweet. However, this latest clip highlights what many viewers have loved about the show since its inception: the witty banter between the titular agents. While Daisy and Deke are initially thrilled by their new surroundings, Director Mack cautions the agents against making too big of a scene for fear of triggering the Butterfly Effect and ultimately changing the future. Although they have a job to do, he insists that it’s best if they create “ripples, not waves.” But Deke suggests it’s okay for them to “splash around a little bit.”

At the end of last season, the team was sent back in time to 1931 in order to stop the Chronicoms from making Earth their new home. Fortunately, they’re getting an extra bit of help in the form of an LMD Phil Coulson. The clip appears to confirm that this version of Coulson is aware of his robotic nature. Despite this, he retains the fallen S.H.I.E.L.D. agent’s sense of humor.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 7 will premiere next Wednesday, May 27 at 10pm on ABC. You can watch the new clip below, then share your thoughts in the comment section!
