Game of Thrones’ Tormund, Kristofer Hivju, Recovered From Coronavirus

Even in a world that is coping with the COVID-19 health emergency, there is still room for nice feel-good stories. Like the one of Game of Thrones‘ Tormund, Kristofer Hivju, who announced on his socials his full recovery from the virus. The actor tested positive for COVID-19 on March 16 and after that, he went into self-isolation together with his wife. Just like his character, he’s a survivor.

“We are fully recovered and in good health after I was infected by the Cororonavirus, and most likely my wife,” Hivju wrote. “After several weeks inn quarantine, and also a couple more indoors after beeing free of all symptoms, we are finally safe and sound. We were lucky to only have mild symptoms of the Covid 19. We send our love and thoughts to all of the people where the virus has hit much harder, and to everyone who has lost their loved ones due to the Cornonavirus. Thank you for all of your support, and please remember to stay vigilant and keep your distance, wash your hands, and most of all ; take care of each other in this strange time. Lots of love from us.”

Hivju became well-known to the general public after landing the role of Tormund Giantsbane in HBO’s epic fantasy Game of Thrones series. He portrayed the wildling leader from 2013 to 2019, when the series ended. In the show, Tormund fought by Jon Snow’s side until they both decided to go living beyond the Wall together with the rest of the surviving wildlings.

Hivju will also portray Nivellen in the upcoming The Witcher Season 2. The latter is a man cursed with a monstrous appearance who makes his debut in the first book of the series by Andrzej Sapkowski. Nivellen lives in a secluded manor in the woods, and the locals used to make up stories about him to frighten children.

Does Kristofer Hivju’s full recovery give you hope? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
