The Witcher Showrunner Says Season 2 Will Have “More Focused” Story

The Witcher has just debuted on Netflix a couple of days ago, but the new fantasy series has already mesmerized fans and critics alike. Now, the bad news is that it seems that the next season of the show will have to wait till 2021. The good news, though, is that there will actually be a Season 2. And it seems that there will be some real action for Geralt of Rivia. In a recent interview with GamesRadarThe Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich hinted that the upcoming season will be more focused on just one main storyline.

“What’s great about season two, I can tell you, is that, in what we’ve written, the story becomes much more focused,” Hissrich said. “There’s a stronger drive in the story, because all of the relationships that we’ve been setting up in season one, actually start to come into fruition in season two.”

Hissrich added also that “characters start meeting and interacting more,” but besides that, there are no other details. The showrunner so far has taken the safer road in bringing Geralt’s adventures to the screen and followed the structure of the first two books — loosely connected short stories — by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.

It seems that the fans appreciated the showrunner’s choice since The Witcher has already become one of the IMDb highest-rated series on Netflix. The adaptation of the beast hunter’s story is going head to head with some of the top-rated series that the internet streaming service has produced, such as Stranger ThingsHouse of Cards, and Peaky Blinders among others.

The Witcher is now available for streaming on Netflix. Which one of The Witcher storylines would you like to see adapted on live-action? Let us know in the comments section below.
