Stranger Things 4 Will Introduce Four New Characters

After more than a year-and-a-half of waiting, Stranger Things 3 finally hit Netflix over the summer. Once fans finished binging the new season, it seemed like all they could do was speculate over whether Jim Hopper really died in the Russians’ secret underground laboratory. We probably won’t know the answer to that question for a while. But in the meantime, TVLine has the scoop on some of the new faces that will make their debut in Stranger Things 4.

According to this new report, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer are planning to cast four recurring characters for the upcoming season. Three of these roles are for a fresh batch of male teenagers. It’s not clear if they’ll be closer in age to the younger heroes (Mike, Eleven, etc.) or older like Nancy and Jonathan. However, each character will adhere to a specific teenage archetype. The parts “range from a metalhead to an entitled jock to a character that sounds an awful lot like the twin of Fast Times at Ridgemont High stoner Jeff Spicoli.”

The producers are also on the lookout for an actor to play a new adult character. Apparently, he “possesses characteristics that suggest that he will figure prominently in a certain storyline set far, far away from Hawkins.”

That last bit isn’t exactly new information. Netflix officially announced Stranger Things 4 with a teaser featuring the tagline, “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.” At this point, no one knows where the Duffer Brothers plan on taking the series. But given Stranger Things 3’s final scene, it’s a safe guess that it will venture back to Russia.

Viewers should take these descriptions with a grain of salt. TVLine notes that because production hasn’t started, the writers might make changes or cut them out of the story completely.
