Long before The Witcher series took the video game industry by storm, the stories originated in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. In less than two months, Netflix is bringing Sapkowski’s fantasy epic to live-action. Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) is headlining the series as Geralt of Rivia. He is empowered by magic and trained to hunt down monsters as a Witcher. However, Geralt can’t exactly hide his true nature. And magical beings aren’t welcomed even when they’re saving people from dark creatures.
Netflix has released the first trailer for The Witcher, which will have an eight episode first season. There is also a glimpse of the moral ambiguity behind the series, as Geralt is forced to hold back even when being stoned by the villagers who hate and fear him. But if he dares to fight back, then he’d be the monster that they claim.
